Edible Plants Which You Can Grow In Your Kitchen Window
Growing edible plants in your kitchen is easy, cheap and also good for you. Here we will look at 5 edible plants which you can grow in your kitchen window.
1. Carrots
Select a 12-inch deep container for growing carrots. Scatter seeds on top of potting soil and lightly cover them with more potting soil. Gently water and place on a sunny windowsill.
Keep the soil moist. Carrots and their edible green tops will be ready to harvest in 70 days.

2. Green Onions
Green onions produce slender tops and thin bulbs. They have a mild oniony flavour and can be eaten raw or cooked. They thrive in a container of soil placed in a sunny kitchen window.
You will need to plant several green onions to get a decent harvest. If you only eat the green tops, place the thin onion bulb in a glass of water and place it in the kitchen window and the green tops will re-grow.
Scallions and chives are close relatives of green onions and can be grown the same way.

3. Lettuce
Loose-leaf lettuce can easily be grown in a sunny kitchen window. Select a 12-inch container that has bottom drainage holes and fill it with good quality potting soil.
Scatter lettuce seeds on top of the soil and lightly cover with more potting soil. Moisten the soil and place container in the kitchen window. Keep soil moist. Harvest lettuce anytime after the leaves are 2-inches tall.

4. Peppers
You can successfully grow bell or hot peppers in a pot on the windowsill as long as the location receives plenty of sunlight. Peppers need heat and light to grow and be productive.
Pepper plants are self-pollinating but you can increase the harvest by dipping a cotton swab into each bloom and spreading the pollen.

5. Radishes
Radishes will be ready to eat in 30 days. They will give a crunchy, peppery-flavor bulb and crisp green tops that have a slightly bitter, peppery flavor.
Scatter radish seeds on top of potting soil and cover lightly with more potting soil. Moisten soil and keep it moist at all times. Place container in a sunny kitchen window and watch the radishes grow. Sow seed every 2 weeks for a constant radish harvest.
